Out of the box

Wash the bowl
Warm soapy water, rinse, dry. Same as any new bowl.

Fit a filter
Slide one of the two filters into the pump housing until it clicks.

Fill to the line
Three litres of tap water. Filtered water is fine too and slows down limescale in hard water areas.

Drop it on the base
Plug the base in, sit the fountain on it, and the pump starts. The light on the base shows it's charging.
Five minutes, once a week

Lift and tip
Lift the fountain off the base and pour the water out.

Bowl in the dishwasher
Top rack. Or a quick hand wash if the machine's full.

Rinse the pump
Pop the pump cover, rinse under the tap, snap it back.

Refill and go
New filter if it's due, fill to the line, back on the base.
Change it before you can smell it
Every two to four weeks. Sooner with two pets, hard water or a heavy drooler. If the flow slows or the water starts to smell, that's the filter telling you.
If something's off
The pump isn't running
Check the base light is on and the fountain is sitting flat on it. Lift it off and back on. If the pump cover is clogged with hair, rinse it. Still nothing? Email hello@bram.pet with your order number.
The flow is weak
Nine times out of ten it's the filter or a hairy pump cover. Change one, rinse the other.
It's noisier than it was
Usually low water. Fill to the line. If it's still loud, rinse the pump.
White marks on the steel
Limescale. A splash of white vinegar in warm water, soak for ten minutes, rinse. Filtered water slows it down.
